Gemstone Pearls
Pearls are the only gemstone that is produced in a living creature, within the soft tissue of a shelled oyster. All other gemstones come from and are created beneath the Earth’s crust. The most valuable pearls are South Sea pearls which are referred to as the Roll Royce of pearls. The Champagne colour of the South Sea pearls are the most valuable.

Natural Pearls
Natural pearls are one of the rarest jewels in the world. Less than 1% of pearls used in jewellery today are natural pearls. The 99% of pearls that are available are said to be cultivated pearls which don’t come from the natural source.

The First Pearl
Using carbon dating, scientists back tracked that the gemstone was over 7500 years of age. It was found in the United Arab Emirates. Before finding this pearl, the oldest pearl was believed to be under 5000 years old.

June Birthstone
People born in June have pearls as their birthstone. Pearls symbolise loyalty, clarity and purity, which makes pearl jewellery the perfect gift for a special friend or family member.
